Has the interest in PREWAR CATALOGUES gone South forever??? Have most of us went to the Big Train in the Sky??? Are these Catalogues no longer pieces of Americana??? I'm talkin' the TEENS and TWENTIES Guys!!! Thanks to an Ebay auction last nite , I am back to 1922 in Lionel. Is this only a big deal to me???

It could be that the Greenberg's reprints took some of the value from the originals.
I have a couple from the 50's (not prewar obviously), but the one has my grandpa's first set in it along with another set I have. I enjoy looking through the old catalogs. The artwork is pretty cool to see.
Well the price for most items have gone south right now...
Not a specific answer for you, but the Greenberg Lionel postwar catalog book got so expensive it was cheaper for me to buy the origional 1947-54 catalogs at a local TCA show.
1. Many who are collectors are getting older and dumping their "paper" stuff any way
they can.
2. Those who run train now outnumber "train collectors" and don't want paper stuff.
3. Value of train related items now is in the enjoyment of running and not looking at
collections on shelves or catalogs stored in boxes.
