Colorado "Joint Line" Ballast Color?

I'm wondering what the ballast color would have been on the "Joint Line" in the 1940's - 1950's.

I've seen the Santa Fe modeled with various color ballast in the Southwest, I'm just wondering what would be good for the Pueblo, Trinidad, La Junta area.
