Mike,

The eBook is n schedule to become available on Wednesday.

This morning, I finished the Index, and all that remains is a small change to the Table of Contents and inserting the Table of Figures. Those will be done by MTH's graphic artist on Monday.

MTH will announce the book's availability via their weekly eNewsletter on Wednesday and I'll do the same here on the forum.

Upgraded 4 TIU's and 3 remotes to 6.0 yesterday.  First time using Windows 10, direct USB hookup.  Much easier than in the past.  Everything went smooth.  Created a remote file name: remote 1.txt.  Used this file to upload the data to remote 2 and 3.  So, I have 3 remotes identical.  Purchased the premium IOS version the APP.  Received 3 WiFi units and will install today.

So, I need to use "More" and "Advance" to import the file.  I think I heard during the DCS user group meeting that I need to rename the remote 1.txt file to remote 1.mth.  I then assume that I need to email with this file attached to have access on my IPAD.  From there I have no idea what to do?

Hopefully, someone, maybe even Barry,  can assist in the next steps?  I will be buying Barry's book as soon as it is available.  But would like to figure the "import" function for the remotes ASAP.

Thanks

I think I heard during the DCS user group meeting that I need to rename the remote 1.txt file to remote 1.mth.  I then assume that I need to email with this file attached to have access on my IPAD.

That's correct.

From there I have no idea what to do?

Receive the E-mail in your iPad and then click on the attached "remote 1.mth" file. Follow then-screen instructions.

Thanks Barry

I will try that if I can ever get the new IPAD, for Train Room Only, to update with "exchange" account.  I use Outlook to manage emails sucked in from gmail.  IPhone doesn't have any problems with "exchange" and I used the exact same settings to setup IPAD, but still not getting the message I sent to myself with the remote1.mth file.

No Macintosh.

Finally got mail on IPAD, double clicked the remote.mth file and MTH App came up selected "import" and 60+ engines, 92 switches, all accessories appeared in APP.  Unbelievable, less than 30 secs.  I was impressed.  So, onto final step.  Hooking up the 3 WiFi units.

Powered up and only got two lights staying lit.  TIU and PWR. Quick Start Guide "Home Wi-Fi Network Mode"  step 5 says that the Wi-Fi light should have lit.  Not for me???

Tried step 6. pressed the "WPS" on router and held in "WPS" button on WIU. " WPS" white light started blinking but never went to steady. ??? *, **

One other thing to note: I went into advanced settings on the app looked at TIU settings and it reported no active TIU's found.????  I assume they won't be recognized until I get the connection ???

*Router in office and WIU's about 40-50 feet away.

** Do I need a second person to hold router "WPS" button in while I hold "WPS" on WIU's ???

Ok, I press and released WPS button on the router and then press and released the WPS on the WIU.    NOTHING

Logged into router "WIFI" settings and found WPS was turned off.  My luck.  Turned on.

Started WPS in router went to train room and press and released the 3 WPS buttons on the WIU,  First one pushed the WiFi light came on.  Other 2 WIU the white light kept flashing, no blue WiFi light.  Powered down entire room.  Powered up press and released WPS on router and then press and released 2 WPS buttons on WIU's.  Second WIU took with blue WiFi light lit.  Repeated for the 3rd WIU and it's WiFi light came on.  Picked up IPAD and immediately started running trains via the APP.  So all is good.  Thank you Barry for your time.

Qustions:

The App is still not reporting any active TIU's under Advanced Settings?

I had no issues running the trains, blowing whistle's and playing horns on any of the trains regardless of where they were on the layout.  However, I haven't found how to tell the APP that I am running in Super Mode?    Do I need to?    If so, why didn't I have problems running the trains, blowing whistle and playing horns?

The App is still not reporting any active TIU's under Advanced Settings?

First, there is no "Advanced Settings". There is "Advanced Features" under which is "System Settings". Under that, there is "TIU Settings".

Second, if you're running trains with the app, how can it not have active TIUs? Why do you believe that this is the case?

I haven't found how to tell the APP that I am running in Super Mode?

You toggle Super TIU Mode on and off for each TIU in TIU Settings.

Do I need to?    If so, why didn't I have problems running the trains, blowing whistle and playing horns?

You only need to turn on Super TIU Mode only if you run your engines through tracks belonging to TIUs other than the TIU to which the engine was last associated, i.e., where it was added to where it was when you issued a Refresh command.

I stand corrected, I was drawing from memory and took a short cut.

Ok, after powering down and powering back up both layout and IPAD,  the TIU's appeared.  I then checked each TIU and the Super Mode was already selected.  Must have come over from the remote import file.  So life is good and having fun running trains.

Question:  I only had one MTH Lash Up in the remote that was cloned.  It came across and put in INACTIVE LIST, even though the two engines were on powered tracks.  No problem, I just deleted the lash up from the inactive list and then re-built it using the APP.  However, in order to see the two MTH engines I did have to indicate which TIU, "2", that was associated with the track where the lash up was sitting.  Correct me if I'm wrong but I didn't have to do that with the remote.  I assumed it was because I run in Super Mode and everything is basically associated thru TIU 1.

I only had one MTH Lash Up in the remote that was cloned.  It came across and put in INACTIVE LIST, even though the two engines were on powered tracks.

That's exactly as expected. If the member engines are Active, the lashup will be Inactive.

I just deleted the lash up from the inactive list and then re-built it using the APP.

That was unnecessary. All that was necessary was for you to do the following:

  • Ensure that all lashup members are on powered tracks.
  • On the Engine Roster Screen, tap the Edit button (upper left-hand corner of the screen).
  • Use the slider to the right of the lashup to move it up into the Active Engine List.
  • Tap the Done button.
  • Go back to the Engine Control Screen and operate the lashup.

in order to see the two MTH engines I did have to indicate which TIU, "2", that was associated with the track where the lash up was sitting.  Correct me if I'm wrong but I didn't have to do that with the remote.

That is standard behavior when building lashups using the app although it was not when using the remote.
