Is it just me or does the strobe light on the roof of the speeders look ridiculous?

I had planned on purchasing one, but I don't think I can get passed that enormous strobe light.  Does anyone have any suggestions about what it would take to replace that light with a smaller one?

thanks

I shouldn't think that it would be difficult from a technical standpoint to replace it. It looks as though it is just an LED with a cover. But from a cosmetic point of view, hiding the surgery may be more difficult.

You could try putting a metal ring around the base of the lamp cover to break up the outline a bit. Perhaps one of the little silver rings found on many ballpoint pens might fit?

How about a utility or maintenance box/es around light. Make a cardboard box as a template and cover with (Evergreen products?)styrene plastic strips. Check out/Google  the Lionel Railbonder    see  roof ---to get the idea.

Warning: My speeder is long gone. Grand kids eventually take possession of small powered cars.

Hi JohnB

Truth be told, I am not a fan of the center rail.  But I love all the features of Legacy, especially the Vision Line so I have learned to accept it!  Granted they are only toys, but I really like proportionality.  We all have our hang ups.  I don't get bent if the slats on the cow catcher are not oriented in the same direction as the prototype or if the rivet pattern on the tender is not spot on, but a huge non scale lobster claw coupler on the front of an engine or strobe light so large that it has its own gravitational pull really turn me off.  What can I say?

If it bothers you, pull it off and go to a Home Depot or similar store and look around for something that's see-through red or yellow plastic with a lower profile that will work. I do that all the time, looking for parts to adapt to kitbash something for use around the house or with trains.

Depending on what you find when you take off the strobe cover, you may want to find something that's the same diameter to cover the opening/missing paint or whatever. But at least you might be able to find a lens that has isn't as tall. I know there's a piece in Legos that could possibly work (a red clear plastic piece), but that may not be something you have around. I think I would try Radio Shack and look at various small light switches that have red and yellow indicator lens that you can remove. One of these might be a good size for the replacement. Home Depot etc. may have these things as well.
