Here are a few shots of the MTH ALCO S2 diesel I just finished. It has a new radiator (and engine) along with a small stack on the hood. The battery box is new along with the air tanks. This assembly was fabricated from styrene. The missing door adds a lot to the interest I think. Reworked pilots and new couplers. Most of the rest of the work was a repaint and weathering. It is all done by brush with acrylics over a flat black rattle can undercoat. A light dusting of dry pigments finishes it. It is a copy of the Landmark Grain's S4. My first black diesel.

Thanks Guys. I just submitted this as an article for OGR. Since I couldn't get an S4 I decided to use an MTH 3 rail S2 as the basis. Close, but no cigar! it is a dummy unit as I cannot run anything anyway. This is just a shelf model. My next paint job will be an MTH FM H-10-44. This will be a copy of Metal Processing Industries of Texas's unit, now at the Orange Empire RR Museum in California. Anybody got any other first generation diesel dummies for sale? As I reported earlier, my Baldwin was stollen in March. I need a replacement unit for it. I love first generation diesel switchers. I am working on a copy of a GE 70 ton unit from Carolina. Just need to finish the frame colors and letter it. Can't wait for the 44 ton models from Williams and MTH!

I have a VO1000 that I need the electronics out of for another engine. I would turn it into a dummy. When I got it, I never had the heart to gut it, so I left it alone.

I also got a SW1500 that someone else had gutted. They took out the motor mounts so nothing holds the trucks on. The sideframes got smashed in shipping and were all in small pieces. It's like this one, except it's #1552:

I would give you a deal on either one if you wanted. I'm not sure if they're your target?
