With three UP units pulling, a container train went through

Glenwood, Illinois this morning. Not sure of the number of

cars and articulated cars.  Five pairs had the rear of the top 

container above the front of the bottom container.  All others

were front to front.

No big deal, I wonder if there is an operational procedure which

calls for this or if it was just the way the container was

positioned in the yard.

Yeah that does occur...no big deal.  When the train was being loaded they could have had spotters bringing the containers in from both directions if they were loading on the fly or as Laidoffsick stated they were spotted trackside in different directions, or they could have been loading from both sides of the train.  I have gone into many yards to pick up a load/empty and the container is set on the chassis backwards...and then I had to go and get it lifted off and switched around.....needless to say that translated into many wasted hours.
