I did not want to steal the previous thread but there is another gem in California, or maybe I should say in the state of Jefferson in the Eureka - Arcata area (they want to secede from california and who wouldn't?).  This is a great group of people trying to maintain the heritage of the timber railroads.  Please visit if you can. Here are some picture, they have a roundhouse and a number of locos and passenger trains - including a number of shays!

Their Heisler had the boiler removed and it has a diesel engine in place of it.  Wish I had a good picture of it, here is the description: 

THA has an unusual Heisler locomotive that was turned into a diesel by a local lumberman. This type of innovation characterized the local lumber industry.
