I have a problem that is perplexing me in that I cannot control the locomotive speed with my CAB-1 remote. This is a new issue and it has become a problem because I haven't changed any wiring or configuration of my layout. Please note that I do not have any Command engines only traditional Lionel with Railsounds. When I place my Alco on the track it wants to go very fast and press "Boost" it want to run away and I have to grab it and take it off the track.  My new  Berkshire Jr. (6-38683 with tender) does something else. I will run a somewhat slower but I can't adjust the speed with my Cab-1, it doesn't seem to have any effect. My Alco did run off the track, causing the circuit breaker to trip but I don't think that would have anything to do with it's running only at top speed. Or would it?

What I find perplexing is that this has just happened and both engines were running in normal mode just yesterday! Note, I only run one engine on the track at a time. My power is PH-1 plugged into a Powermaster.  I also have a Trainmaster with a wire from the U terminal to the U terminal on the Powermaster and this has worked fine until yesterday. My switches are controlled by a separate transformer via voltage plugs they work fine. This is a long sad take, but I would greatly appreciate any suggestions that may lead to a solution for what has been a real puzzle to me.  Thank you!

George, this may be a shot int the dark. CAB-1 operates at 27MHz which is where CB operates as well. CB operators are suppose to only transmit at 5 watts, but some are power hungry and will put a 12-1500 watt amp in-line. My point is that kind of wattage will mess with anything remotely close to 27MHz or anything thing close period. The best way to find out is turn on your stereo, if they come through your speakers there's your problem.
