I have some Lionel 2000 era Hudson's, like the grey 685,Boston and Albany etc.that I would like to upgrade to New tmcc   electronicscs. Also a friend's Lionel Smithsonian Hudson.Please advise what steps to take,ballpark costs and sources.

lionel only released the codes and does not sell Legacy parts.

I feel many get the can motor and go with DCS.  I did that and am very happy.  I purchased the Yellowbelly when it first came out.  I also took it back for a refund the same day.  The motor was a  big time junker.  It was not your dependable postwar motor.  The ERR is for guys who want to keep the highly coveted AC motor.  For guys who want a smooth running engine, DCS or ERR.  Your choice.  Here is a clip of my engine with an MTH smoke unit.
