Conventional engine upgrade to New tmcc ,legacy

lionel only released the codes and does not sell Legacy parts.

You should visit The Electric Railroad site and check out their products.  For these, you'll want the Cruise Commander and a suitable sound set RailSounds Commander.  If these are AC motored locomotives, substitute the AC Commander for the Cruise Commander.

John is correct, ERR is the best, the only, way to go when it comes to upgrading any conventional motive power to TMCC control and great sounds.   I have done so many times, never regret doing so.

Guys, no Legacy kit exists.  You can buy Legacy parts.  To try to buy all the Legacy parts will be a ton of money.  The B&A  will be great with ERR.

If the loco has an AC motor (more properly called a series wound universal motor) Frank Timko can send you a can motor to convert the loco. Then you can install a cruise commander from Electric Railroad.

Marty,      We understand that.  He asked what other electronics are available for TMCC adaptation to Lionel conventional.   No doubt, we are all in agreement considering ERR products for a great upgrade to any engine, should that be what one wishes to go, TMCC.

I feel many get the can motor and go with DCS.  I did that and am very happy.  I purchased the Yellowbelly when it first came out.  I also took it back for a refund the same day.  The motor was a  big time junker.  It was not your dependable postwar motor.  The ERR is for guys who want to keep the highly coveted AC motor.  For guys who want a smooth running engine, DCS or ERR.  Your choice.  Here is a clip of my engine with an MTH smoke unit.

I did an upgrade with the MTH smoke and a Super-Chuffer for a customer with one of those, but he retained the AC motor, so it was an AC Commander.

The Yellowbelly was one fantastic locomotive.  It was built very strong.  The bad part was the motor.  Not so good.

John, how did it run with the AC motor.  That motor needs DC to run good.

It made the customer happy Marty.   I would have rather done the DC motor with the cruise, but I only follow orders.
