Converting a challenger Loco. electronic to the newer BEMC board

Would it be possible to convert the Lionel challenger Electronics from the older and Obsolete boards to the newer and current BEMC boards like the Y-3 have. Would the sound system need to replace it also. Just a thought. (please NO ELECTRIC Railroad ideas)

I think you'll have some issues with sound, the RCMC or BEMC process some commands slightly different, the bell comes to mind. Obviously, the wiring is much different, so it won't be a simple conversion. The even newer LCP2 board will have the same limitations.
