I acquired this PS1 Veranda that's been gutted of it's motors and is internally in rough shape.  The pickups are gone, the tether is gone, no way to know if the boards are fried.  I'd like to get the lights working on the front end, and maybe one of the smoke units.  It will most probably only be pulled around by other PS1 engines, so I'm not overly concerned about the smoke units burning up from 18v being constantly applied.  Any advice on testing the board that the lights all seem to run through?  It seems untouched. Is a functioning MARS light also a possibility?  I'll have to buy two pickups, one for lights, and one for smoke.  Can the smoke unit run directly off of track power?

Can these brown and blue wires be connected to a truck and pickup and power the light board?  I tested each bulb and all work.  I'm guessing the light board rectifies AC track power to DC for the lights?

NO, the brown and blue are a 1.5V signal to turn headlight on. Whatever you do, don't connect those to track power.

The red and black wires are power into that board.- They are already connected to the pickup red and black wiring.

The smoke unit has zinc rot so the metal parts need to be replaced.  Can run off track voltage but will smoke heavy.  Knocking down voltage with a regulator or some diodes to lower voltage is best.  The power runs through switch.  As mentioned the CV board gets power via red/black or orange and brown.  The connector can be removed.  Bulbs are 6V but HL is sequenced by the PS-1 board via the blue and brown wires.

You can power the PS-1 board if you have speaker, volume pot and battery connected to test for sounds.  Need motors to see if they function. G
