Converting to liquid smoke ?

hi ,when converting to liquid smoke unit ,is it necessary to use a plastic cap,or can you reuse the metal cap.was just going to put a new resistor.

The metal is fine, there is actually no reason to "convert" unless the original nichrome heater has failed. If you want to maintain the option of pellet use, smoke fluids work quite well in pellet units. If you change out the wicking with some fresh fiberglass, that will do the most for improved smoke output and longevity.
