Couplers on K-Line cars are too low. Any ideas? | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I recently bought a used pair of K-Line 4899 "American Red Cross" passenger cars. They are in good condition and seem like nice pieces, except for one problem: the couplers are much lower than on all my other cars. They end of decoupling anywhere there is a slight unevenness in my layout. The two cars match up well with each other, but they are definitely a non-standard height.

Has anyone seen a similar problem, and any ideas on how to fix it? I'm hoping to avoid duct tape. I tried bending it but there wasn't much give and it just reverted back to the original position.

If you plan to couple the car to only one car and run it, black twisties may be used to hold the couplers together at the same height. John

Try to find a pair of trucks with the correct coupler height.
