Couplers on Rio Grande ALCO PA?

I like the narrative of the Aspen Leaf scheme, but the engines don't do much for me. The color is Duco orange, which is also Grande Gold. Scott has used this before, so I'm sure they will look great. Some pics show it too orange IMO. Notice that the trucks had a silver finish, while the body is a dull alluminum almost greyish. Key captured it beautifully. The above picture is of forumite Erik Lindgren. 

Inaugural CZ runs were done by the striking bumblebee PA's.

What you can do for the couplers is paint them silver and lightly weather them for a nice on the field look!

In trying to enter an argument about color correction in a forum on monitors that may or may not be in calibration with one another to Pantone standard and the subtle fact that one in three men are colorblind to some extent in a male dominated hobby is null at best. Dan Pantera is probably the best authority on railroad color for many reasons. Well despite that my masters degree in fine arts with a major in color theory has taught me a few things about the science of color and color perception. I will not rewrite any of the rebutle in regard to this dynamic.  Reality for me is does it look right to me in the light I have in my basement and will it holdup in daylight and in warm light and reflected light? As far photos, what film was it? Kodak, Agfa, was the negative stored properly what is the time of year, hour of the day, overcast, shadow, cloudy, and was the subject in fade due to age, it’s nearly impossible to confirm except in the use of chips and were they stored correctly?

PS: Knowing Scott he will get it as right as possible be confident it will be as correct as you would ever want it to be. 

Thanks Santiago, it’s nice to be among professionals in here. It is too bad we didn’t get the Bumblebee in either the 2010 Key Model version or the Sunset sets. Bummer  

Santiago, hope all is well.  Bet summer has made the cat quite lazy.   If I had deeper pockets we both would have got the Bumble Bee paint.  I even hoped for undecorated and would have tried to paint it myself, if you messed up it would have been easy to do the aspen as a last resort.

Would be nice to afford all these beautiful models coming I would agree. Meanwhile, I'll have to be content with Lionel's decent rendition of the Bumble Bees as well as some old Williams Santa Fe's that I tried my hand at creating the Aspen Leaf set some 7 or 8 years ago. It has a MTH B unit not pictured. I enlarged the Williams fuel tanks to hide the 'high water' effect and probably got the nose too orange (was trying for the color in the first photo at top of thread) but it was a fun project.

Have since added the Lionel Bumble B B unit and will affix the pilot. I really like both of these schemes and have ordered the D&H from Scott.

Looks great. I wonder if Scott will have separate fixed pilot for these. I had to build my own you may recall.

Here you go! Yes, they definitely had silver couplers.

T4TT, could you please measure the inner side of the big number boards on your aspen leaf 3rd Rail engines for me?  You know, the big 6001 on the sides?

I have not made it home yet, but those number boards are the weakest link in an otherwise nice model. They are terrible.

you are welcome Santiago!  BTW, did you get the brush section from American Scale models yet?  I  got a single pair of brushes.  I have not installed them yet.  I was very happy to see that the brushes were not mounted on a painted concrete base like the high pressure wash rack was.  Cutting that off the HP rack was a bit of a PITA.
