IMHO, the old KCS scheme was much handsomer -- this one is boring by comparison.
Needs something more on the cab. The red is boring.
i like it alot but i wish there was more up front to be honest
the big question is 1 how long before the repainting and service of the new scheme when we see it for real on the road?
2 how long before we see the scheme in o gauge? i already want a CPKC set
Doesn't do anything for me, but then the whole idea of this merger, and losing the identity of two great separate railroads in yet another railroad merger, makes me want to ________ ( you can fill in the blank). In addition, it's awful when railroads with real names are reduced to identifying themselves with initials. Union Pacific - please live on!
For CP red engines, it should be pretty easy to redecorate them. It's basically just adding the yellow and green on the back end, changing "CANADIAN PACIFIC" to "CPKC" and adding the flags on the cab (which I wish were bigger. Well, and slight change of lettering to the beaver herald.
Will be a much bigger effort to repaint a KCS engine. Given BNSF still has warbonnet Santa Fe engines in use almost 30 years after that merger, I suspect the Southern Belle scheme will be on the rails for quite a while.
If the yellow & black were done as the multimark (pac man)...
I notice the "new" herald/logo still has the CP beaver, maple leaf, and date 1881. I still think this is less two railroads merging into a new third railroad as it is CP buying KCS...like when the Soo Line and Milwaukee Road merged - it was the "Soo/Milwaukee System" (or something like that) for a few years, then just became the Soo Line and the Milwaukee references disappeared.
