A few years back, Weaver came out with incredible looking CNR wood cabeese and wished someone would come out with a CP one.

I figured I would scratchbuild one myself, since I really wanted to get one behind my CP steam locos.

I built it from Evergreen Styrene sheets and 4" abs pipe(roof). Decided it was time to get back on the project again and this is where I am so far with it.

Need to find brass ladders and other details. Im thinking I would like to do the interior as well.

Of course working Marker lights.

Any suggestions on where to find the needed detail parts, welcome

Al

That really does look nice.

PSC has ladders, but you can make your own with K&S strips and wire.  I use .032 sheet brass, carving it into strips, drilling for .032 wire, and soldering in a wood jig.  If your caboose has those curved strips at the top, .032 strip can easily be bent the wrong way by heating it cherry red, quenching it in water, and bending with needle nose pliers.

The key is to carefully center-punch and drill the brass strips.  I use heavy magnification.

The Mullet kits are very nice wood replicas.  Lots of work and maybe a few additional tools.  You would still have to add the trucks.

Frame detail on a set of Montour RR (Buffalo, Rochester, and Pittsburgh) Caboose kits.

Glen had done some additional tool boxes for me.

The detail is intense.  Cost is a consideration.   You may want to talk to one of the builders on the forum.  The kits have exceptional, well done, laser cut, parts and detail.   You would also have to do some lettering or decal work.  No trucks or couplers with the Mullet kits. A modified Weaver truck, that I was going to make work.   The metal sub-frame will accept KD couplers also.

The Kit .  Not for the average builder, IMO.

Sorry I haven't completed the models.
