What is the purpose of that switch? I don't see any reference to it in the locomotive manual other than it being shown in the diagram showing the bottom of the locomotive.

OK. Now I am confused. On your other post you are looking for a owner’s manual for a GP35 but here you state you have one you just looked at?

Usually this switch is for turning the cruise control off.
A point of continuing education…
The locomotive is a GP35, not a GP-35. There are no dashes in EMD model numbers.

There's not? I thought there was a dash in some, such as an SD40-2.
OK, it'll be a SD402 from now on.

The “Dash 2” series was the only place where EMD used dashes. But there’s no dash in the basic model number. SD40-2.
Responses to the above:
3Rail - no specific question. I just like having the manuals. Also, your second post - I wrote to Atlas and they got back to me with the manuals. I got those manuals after my first post.
RoyBoy - yes, that is what I assumed about cruise control - I just don't know how that is used and where it is used.
I also heard back from Atlas on the purpose of that switch. I just don't know how/where I would use cruise control.
Actually, the normal use of the cruise switch is to just leave it on. Other than the occasional experiment, I've never felt the need to turn cruise off on any of my locomotives.
