Hello,

I wanted to run some conventional trains on my ZW-L/Base3/Cab1-L loop and man do I regret it. And Lionel customer service says I can’t go back.

I assigned post A as Engine 1 using the CAB3 app. I sat ENG 1 as a transformer. It ran my old post wars great. Though I noticed my insulated Billups gate was acting strange, then stopped working completely. I said ok, I’ve checked the box, I know how to do it now- let’s go back.

I go to clear ENG1. ENG - 1 - Set on the CAB1-L. Four red lights on the Base 3. Nothing changes.

I delete it from the roster in the CAB3 app. Nothing changes. I have to spin the wheel on my CAB1-L to power up the track and all my accessories hooked up to posts A and B. I even tried moving my power post from A to D. Though I never programmed post D, it still behaves this way!

I don’t want the track behaving like an engine anymore. Any idea what I have done and how I can go back? Pretty desperate, I feel like I have bricked my layout compared to how it was. Would happily even pay anybody in the Phoenix area to come take a look if necessary!

Thanks so much in advance,

To elaborate on that page that Rob posted, I'd wager it's the CMD/CONV switch.  If you don't want to have to use the wheel on the remote to apply power to the track, then the ZW-L needs to be in conventional (CONV) mode.  Then you just set the throttle lever wherever you want it and it'll immediately apply power to the track when you flip the switch on.

If that doesn't describe "how it was," then perhaps a more detailed description is needed.

Did you go through all the steps on page 14?

Thank god.. it works! All I had to do was press down on the direction button. It now operates correctly! I picked that manual apart with Lionel CS… sometimes just takes a different brain 😂 You’re the man. Thank you so much..

RIP my Billups gate though, it appears to be a casualty in all of this.. any idea how all of this could have affected that?
