Just my opinion, but I believe you hit the nail on the head!

Maybe they found out how much $$$ it's going to cost to bring the locomotive up to current FRA standards...

...And exactly what a complicated machine a steam locomotive is.

We stayed overnight in Topeka last May, and the engine was still sitting in the park with nothing noticeable having changed on it.

This is just another sad disappointment following high hopes of something cool being done with our taxs.

I guess I should of known it was only one more research scam. Though I am no mechanical engineer I should know enough just by reading Rich and all the others on these pages that such a scheme was not based on logic.

I say the Attorney General rounds these crooks up, grabs them by their ankles and shakes real hard until we get our money back.

Just maybe, they never were able to obtain any tax money, for their scam?

This was a pipe dream scam from the word go. I would not want to be within shrapnel range of that thing at 130 mph!

Hi Bryan, thanks' for the link but I read that as well. Notice though that that page is basically a static web site. What I mean by that is the thing has not been up dated since it's inception.

I think the whole steam engine story is little more then a Flimflams hook to get people interested in the bio fuel.

I found through my life that birds of a feather really do flock together. If the engine story is a scam then everybody associated with it are of the same ilk.

In short buddy if Rich calls the mechanical side of this a scam what does that say about those who started the story.

In short I am of the opinion that we should throw this whole story into the trash heap of lessons learned. 

The last email update I got was in July. The site is still up but no information as to the progress of the restoration. I've put my money towards seeing my old friend 611 back on the rails!
