I assume traffic will increase on this line since CSX built a huge new intermodal terminal near Montreal? is the line cleared for stacks?

Mike:
My employer sold CSX some property adjacent to our Valleyfield, PQ production site so they could construct a new mainline into this terminal.
To my knowledge, this line is currently cleared for doublestacks. In fact, CSX has actually been running intermodal on this line now for about the last two years although it has been included in mixed manifest trains.

I believe that CSX has been running two or three unit stack trains daily in each direction since last summer. No problem running doubles. Line has been upgraded to 50 mph.

Does the line still interchange with CP or CN near Montreal? I read (may be old info) that the northern most portion was out of service.

CSX has established the Valleyfield Intermodal Terminal in Montreal so a lot of the container traffic is direct now. Beyond the direct traffic, CSX still interchanges traffic with CN.

CSX and CN interchange cars at Cecile Junction, PQ. This is less than a mile east / northeast of the new intermodal ramp. Our Valleyfield plant site is physically switched by CN with all CSX bound traffic being handed off at Cecile.
