1982 Budd L cars are probably among the older units in the fleet and this train is probably a low mileage unit.

I grew up in Chicago. If my memory is correct when Budd won the contract they had incorporated the front end and window design of the 6000 series cars on purpose. If you remove the headlights and the classification lights above the windows. Paint it Alpine white and mint green, put the single headlight above the door and the two single lights on the lower front you have a modern version of the 6000. For those of us who grew up in the 50, 60s, 70s, 80s and the early 90s the 6000 series cars have a special place in most Chicagoans hearts.
