Evening Everyone,

My uncle from NJ was telling me this evening that he was told by one of his train buddies that he had read where the 844 was here in Texas and was going to be dead-headed as part of a freight train from one place to another.  He didn't know the exact specifics of the movement or where it was from to where it was going.  The friend went on to say that as the train left its starting point the going was very slow and the headend power was having a devil of a time pulling the train.  I guess for some unknown reason, the train finally stopped, maybe it was due to a hotbox dector going off, he didn't really know.  After walking the tran it was discovered that the drivers on the 844 all had flat spots on them and it looked like the 844 would be down for a time while they were changing out the driver tires.

Has anyone heard of this or is it old news and has already been discussed on this forum.  If so, please accept my apologies for bringing up old news.

Thanks for your help and answers.

Yeah, WyoRail is right!  It leaves Cheyenne this morning on its way to Omaha.  Tomorrow it will be coming through Kearney, guess where I'll be at 10:30 AM.  Down at UP's triple track watching this beauty go by.  It just doesn't get much better than that on a Saturday morning in the Midwest.

Everyone have a great weekend.

Well, I guess "stopped in Cheyenne,WY" is one way to put it. Both 844 and 3985 are HEADQUARTERED and maintained in Cheyenne, WY. Soooooo, yes, she is indeed "stopped in Cheyenne, WY"!

Good Morning Everyone,

Thanks for the great replys, I'm glad to hear and see that the 844 is back in steam and was not sidelined for too long a period of time.  I'm sorry if I brought up old information, I don't always check this forum on a regular basis, there are so many good ones on here that it is hard to go thru them all every day.  Rich thanks for the links to the two threads, when my uncle comes to visit tonight, I'm going to show him the two threads and hopefully he'll want to join the forums also in the future.

Thanks again for the great responses.
