How does one go about getting a custom aquarium car film made? I think I can do better than endless loops of Gil Finn's premium trout...
Giraffe mermaids, anyone?

That's what I was thinking, but I kinda suspect clear transparency film is heavier gauge than the stock Lionel film. ;-)

I don't think your silly at all Mitch. How about a zoo car with a lione walking around his cage?
Use Adobe Photoshop to create the mermaids and then have that image printed on a clear film at a photo printing shop.

I remember the older strips looking like photo film - clear with sprocket holes. I think the new cars have a plastic strip that revolves with friction on the rollers. I imagine you could have the images printed in strip form on a large plastic sheet, cut and tape the plastic strip and put it in your car.
hello guys and gals...........
Doesn't the printed images on the Film tape have to be soft a flexible other wise the print images will crack and flake off ?

Mitch,
If you accomplish a final result, please post some pictures of how you made it happen,
have a couple of these older Lionel Fish Tank Cars myself which I just put LED's in this past Christmas season, would love to try a little custom screen work if yours turns out nice.

I have had my mth penguin/aquarium car apart a few times because after it sits for a while the film sticks. It is a friction drive, ie no spokes or holes in the edge of film. I can tell you that a little baby powder makes a big a difference in keeping the film from getting stuck. I don't remember exactly what the film and printing felt like but I do remember that the joint was more rigid than I expected.
Sorry, can't be any more help at the moment.

Sounds logical. Does anyone know what dimensions the film is?
