My son and I have completed our latest two custom painted cars, we used Atlas 3 Bay Cylindrical Hoppers.  The cars are painted with Scalecoat II paint, one in Conrail Blue and the other in Reading Green with Microscale decals also Testor's dullcoat clear.  Next time we might paint 2 more cars, 1 in red and 1 in yellow.  We wanted to add some different colored cylindrical hoppers to our Lionel CP Rail Grain Train Set.

It's ok the colors are not prototypical, we don't care, we'll enjoy them.  Thanks for looking

I did the same thing last year painting two RailKing cylindrical hoppers in the green Saskatchewan grain hopper scheme.  I used a combination of sandpaper and a fiberglass eraser pen to remove all of the lettering and markings and painted with ScaleCoat paint.  I got the decals online and the cars turned out terrific.  I don't have pictures and the cars are stored away right now (layout is waaaaayyyyy too small!).

Thanks for positive feed back, Canadian road names are my son's favorite and starting some New England road name boxcars now.  Something very satisfying doing custom work,  we are trying to decide on a engine now, maybe a GP9, GP38 or GP40 in Bangor and Aroostook solid blue color, found the decals in a file with my Lionel catologs.  Looking for a engine at a good price that makes it worth while repainting it.

Just ordered 8 MTH York Boxcars at a great price for more custom work.

Looks like we need to start a post with custom work fellow Forum members have done, if there isn't one already.
