Were all cw80's made with adjustable accessory voltage. I have 2 and one reads about 11 volts and the other 8.2 volts. I tried adjusting using the 3 buttons and throttle but no luck. I dont have the manual. They are somewhat older. Guessing around 2004.

I think you are missing a step in the adjustment. After you get the voltage you want let the buttons up and bring the throttle back down to zero. You should be able to get the manual from the lionel web.

Im thinking the ones i have arent adjustable. When you push the 3 buttons the transformer light is supposed to flash. When you raise the throttle, the accessory voltage is supposed to raise. Mine doesnt flash or raise. Actually the track voltage raises with the buttons pushed and advancing the throttle.....
The accessory voltage was set to 12 volts at the factory.
1. To set the accessory voltage, bring the throttle all the way back to turn off the power.
2. Press and hold down the DIRECTION, WHISTLE/HORN, and BELL buttons on on the Controller. The green light on the Transformer will flash and track power will turn off.
3. With all three buttons held down, raise the throttle slowly until you reach your desired accessory voltage.
4. Release the buttons once you have reached your desired voltage. The accessory turns off, and the solid green light indicates that you have set the accessory voltage.
5. Bring the throttle all the way back to turn off the power. The voltage will momentarily increase, briefly causing the lights to shine brighter or the motors to operate faster, before returning to the set level. At this point, increasing the throttle again will control track power.
Yes. Thats exactly what i am doing. As i stated- step 2, no flashing light. Step 3, accessory voltage stays the same, and the "track voltage" goes up/down with throttle movement....

What is the code of the bottom of each transformer?
They're screwed down. I will check later and get back to you.
Ok. Checked. There is absolutely no code/#' of any kind on or under either of them. The only code is on the 80w power bricks. That is - 6-01-4003000
If they have bricks, you have the BW-80 transformer and not the CW. Those might not have the adjustable accessory output.
That must be it. Maybe they are BW? I never heard of those...
Anyone know why one would read about 11v and the other about 8.2?
Any fix for this?
The case is removable with philips screws..
A ZW or other power supply is in the works, but just want to nurse these along a bit longer...
Sounds like you have the BW. It's 80watts and uses bricks. The accessory section is supposed to be 12v + or - 2 v per the manual, not adjustable.
The manual can be found Here
