Guys,
Because of house renovations, I will not be going to York this year either! See you at Spring York, hopefully.
When will I learn to live dangerously and put everything on hold and just HAVE FUN?????

That's too bad! but that means more for us who are going
Well, for me, I couldn't afford to go anyway. I spent, and overspent, my train allowance dollars several times this year already.
Sorry your not going Mike. I guess I won the bet.
You guys are betting that I don't go?????? How LOW can you be?

Guys,
These house renovations have been put off for years, now that we are in the middle of them! I have to have a place where I can relax! In a while it's going to get too **** cold to pee outside!

I've never been to York -- or any other train show for that matter. My day will come. Hopefully, next season.
My schedule is stretched so much that it's even prevented me from starting my train room benchwork. At least I have set up a Fastrack carpet central layout in the room (tow large loops: the inner is 072 and the outer is 084. I can run trains until I have time to start building the tables.
Terrence, If you don't take time off to go to a train show, you may not live long enough to go to a train show.
Good advice Eddie! Terrance---even if you can only get there one day a day at York is better than a day at work.
Many times I can only go for one day and I always find it to be just what the doctor ordered. I usually go on Thursday to give myself some extra time to get to the show and to hang out with the OGR gang at dinner. Getting home at midnight or 1:00 can be a pain but it's worth it even if I have to work all day on a Saturday to catch up on work.

Terrence since your on the Isle of Long you can go via one of the two charter buses that go up on the Friday of York every six months. It sure beats driving!
I'm in almost the same boat as you Mike. Work is preventing me from going this year, I've only been able to attend two York meets in the past 5 years!
I get to go but only on Saturday as will be out of town for work and then have to fly home to NJ from California! Any time at York is better than no time at all!
Sorry to read that some of the folks who would like to go are unable to do so due to other commitments.
Nice thing about the show: the next one is only six months away.
Hope you get to go next time!
I haven't been in ten years. All set up for April
I am like Terrance in that I have never been to York, however I have been to other more local train shows and like them. I am also like him in that I don't have a layout right now, except the movable Carpet Central and the Ceiling Central. I do agree with Eddie and Greg, that I should go to York sooner than later.
One of our daughters is getting married a week before York. It is amazing how a small, simple wedding can consume funds so rapidly. With our other daughter perhaps getting married in a year or so, the only way I may get to York is to become a hobo and ride the rails.
Seriously, I hope to get there in the near future. A 4 hour drive isn't bad. The trick is to find something my wife can do so she doesn't feel left out. She isn't able to walk the halls with me, and would get bored quickly anyway. I wish we had someone we know in the area she could visit.
Regardless, it seems like it was a short time ago since I was reading all the exciting reports that all you Yorkers posted for my benefit. I will look forward to all of your reports.
York has lots of factory tours and outlet shopping.
Does'nt matter what it has....,When you cant get there and need to .....,Wished I could go....

Thank you CW. We will look into that for next year.
Mark, read Clem's York primer. Lots of outside activities for the wife and you.

Thank you for the reminder. I saw Clem's primer referred to last spring, but only glanced at it since I wasn't going. I will check it out.

Yes, that's it! I could not think of it for the life of me. Thank you, Bob!
My wife is not coming this time. Recent trips we hit the Harley factory tour, a nearby cavern, a dairy farm, a local brewery, of course Thursday at Fridays and then Ruby Tuesday. I guess she can only handle so much fun!
