I just received this announcement by email. It doesn't affect me personally, but others might be interested.

I keep my inventory on Dash. Trainz is a forum sponsor, and I think they have deeper pockets to keep the site going.

Ditto for me. Between the forum for-sale board right here and select eBay sellers with good reputations, I was never drawn to Trainz or Dash.

I thought Scott Griggs owned both and this was just a name change.

You can get some absolute steals from Trainz Auctions, precisely because others share that thought and participation is sparse.
What, me worry?
Do they still have high buyers fees they had at one time????
Those don't work for me.....

These are what keeps me away. With Trainz items, it reminds me of passing department store windows as a kid. Cool stuff behind the glass that isn't worth more than looking at and going through a different store to buy it when the money is saved. I hope 1,000 people quote these posts. It's really sad, too, because I have purchased items from them outside of "dash," and they have been very cool to me. Their "head engineer" seems like a guy with a true passion for the hobby. On a teacher's salary, the used market is essentially my main outlet. If they could get those buyers' fees cut out, they would be the primary source in comparison with E***.
I've noticed that since Dash came along, Trainz has had fewer listings on eBay. No surprise there. eBay doesn't bother me as a buyer, the other auction site does, and I don't shop there.
I've had very bad luck purchasing from DASH and no response to emails. Trainz through e bay always responds to issues. I quit Dash after 3 bad purchases. I think it's where they unload the things they don't want their name on, Just my opinion your welcome to yours.
I have no issues with Trainz.....2 or 3 of my best buys ever came from Trainz via ebay. And I had a recent direct order with them that was 100% perfect.
I just do not pay added fees to a auction price no matter who it is.
Even before the ridiculously high buyer's fee, my main gripe is that their starting bids are way too high. On most items, take the starting bid, add buyer's fee and shipping, and it's usually over what I would pay at a meet.
I purchased some hard to find items on dash . Since many were not using the site, I got some good deals even though the buyers premium is higher than Stouts or other aution houses.
Funny they still sell the big ticket items on eBay.

According to this Bloomberg listing, CollectorDASH Holdings was founded by Bill Jones. Different business address and no mention of Scott Griggs or Trainz.
According to the LinkIn listing, DASH also offers a similar platform for action figures.
BUYER FEES! I saw that and didn't bid. I think most people will not go back a second time if they didn't know there is a buyer fee the first time.
The buyer fees are probably off topic, but seller fees used by eBay and the like are probably a better commercial approach.
Just looked at the new website, not very user friendly to navigate. Will not go back. I will stay with the reliable sources.
The buyers fee is still 18%.
Buyer's fees don't scare me away. I just remember to bid no more than 80% of what I might be willing to pay to a dealer, auction site, or whatever without buyers' fees. I picked up 5 K-Line turnouts with 42" radius for O27 tubular track for $22 each INCLUDING buyer's fee and shipping. Just have to do a little more math with these guys.
