Taking advantage of Lionel’s upcoming parts sale, I am looking at using a DCDR and R2LC combined with an off the shelf motherboard as a command upgrade for a Williams SD70. I have already installed an ERR RailSounds Commander. No need for cruise control.

Does anyone have recommendations for a motherboard type that provides a compact space saving configuration?

Given this is a diesel, that board is kinda large Pete, and he doesn't need the two RS connectors.  Here's a compact one that should be suitable.  It offers both front and rear coupler connectons, both lights, and the smoke unit.  You can pick up the serial data for the RS Commander from the IR SERIAL output.

Here's the pinout for the connectors to ease the task.

Thanks John. That is exactly what I had in mind. I just couldn’t remember which engine that board was from.
