With the help BoxcarBill and others on the 3 rail forum, I was able to diagnose a bad DCDR board on my Lionel Chessie U30C (link below).

Gunrunnerjohn has been gracious enough to offer me an older Odyssey board but we are not sure of compatability/functionality.

Installed Board:

     691DCDSFM3

DCDS / ODYSSEY 1 MOTOR DRIVER (USE 691DCDSHM5)

Proposed Board:

     691DCDSEM2

DCDS / ODYSSEY 1 MOTOR DRIVER (USE 691DCDSYU1)

Anybody try such a swap?  If so, how were the results?

FM3 and EM2 are early driver boards for around 2000-2002 locos, now obsolete. HM5 boards are for 2 motor diesels, YU1 are for mostly electrics and steam. At one time Lionel had about 6-7 different driver boards that were specific for the motor that was installed in the engine. They have pared it down to about 3 now. Your swap should be fine.
