Does anyone know, in the early Legacy steam locomotives that used the DCDS and the RCDR, where did the motor driver derive the PWM and forward reverse signals?
Early Legacy with a DCDS also used a R4LC. They are essentially the same as the TMCC boards that preceded them with different codes. The forward and reverse signals come from the R4LC. RCDRs are used with the later BEMC motor drivers.

That's not entirely true. For example, the LionMaster Legacy T1 used an RCDR (691RCDR104) and a DCDS (691DCDS11A).
