I have seen this question so many times in the past, I hate to post it. Maybe I will be forgiven. I have not hooked up my system for ages (many years) Today, I went to do what I thought I had done years ago and the memory went. Then, I could not find my manual. Please help me with basic setup..and forgive me.

TIU is powered via aux input in my case. Then, I run the Z1000 block to a pigtail going into the TIU, and the output of that to the track, paying attention to the pos/neg orientation. BUT...memory tells me to pigtail power into the fixed in #1 and the leads to the track to the fixed out #1. (recollection is that I don't really need an aux in power if I use this input, but it is good to use aux power....correct?)

I think I remember that Var 1 & 2 in, with their respective outs, is good also, but they are for conv/PS1 and/or DCS. It has been awhile.

I'd gamble and hook it up for a test and try it, but too much of a chance I could be wrong...no sense frying something at this point. It has been a long time since I hooked this up. Anyone got help for an old fart? Guess if I don't find Barry's bible, I will have to get another. Thanks.

so just to clarify for others reading this,

if you power the TIU with fixed #1 in, and you lose or shut off that power, you lose DCS signal on all other channels. I state that because you may trip the power to fixed #1 for example, and then you will lose control of everything. When you're new, you may have only one power source. As your layout gets bigger, you may add more power (and channels) to run more trains.

That is a main reason for using the aux TIU power in. To keep other channels active.
