Our MTH NP switcher, #1170, works great.

What happens is when I turn off the layout ... it disappears ....

Not in the inactive or active lists ... just gone.

So I do an ADD MTH ENGINE and it finds it and adds it and all is fine until I turn the layout off again.

Then repeat above ...

It's the only locomotive on the layout experiencing this dropping.

Battery is totally charged up.

Wierd.

Suggestions?

I find it unlikely that the engine is the actual problem. Once a remote adds an engine, it stays in the remote regardless of the engine's ability to change its own DCS ID# permanently.

Some questions:

  • What version of DCS are you running? Is it the asme in both the remote and the TIU?
  • What is the engine's DCS ID# when its adds? If it's 99, that could be the problem.

Try adding the engine and then changing its DCS ID# immediately. Power the remote off and then back on and see if the problem persists.

Kerrigan,

First, ensure that the engine's battery is fully charged.

Then, add the engine and then, regardless of what the engine says is its DCS ID#,  change its DCS ID# immediately to something else altogether. Power the remote off and then back on and see if the problem persists.

If that doesn't correct the problem:

  • Add the engine one more time
  • Do a Factory Reset of the engine: Menu/Advanced/Reset Engine/Factory Reset. This will remove it from the remote.
  • Add it again, power the remote off and then back on, and see if the problem persists.
