I have been running MTH rolling stock with my Lionel LC+ gear for some time and have now acquired my first RailKing locomotive. An MTH rep a a recent train show got me very interested in their DCS Explorer as a way to get initiated into their stuff. Looking at the locomotives I'm interested in running on my layout, I'm thinking I might need to add one or two Lionel Legacy engines. So, I hereby seek to shelter myself by invoking my privilege as a novice in this area to ask a crazy question: if the MTH DCS system can be used to control Lionel Legacy locos, is that possibly true of the DCS Explorer with the IOS app as well? I wouldn't expect to be able to get all the fancy functions, but would it work? Thanks!
