I downloaded DCS loader 2.3.4 a few days ago but it took a while to get the driver for the USB/serial that works on my ancient (8 year old) PC. I read a post here from 2012 which referred to an MTH news article / driver dated 12/20/2010 for the rev L USB/serial driver, but the link to the driver on the MTH website appears to be out of date. The only other USB driver download I see on the MTH site is for window 7 and 8. Eventually, I just let the new hardware wizard install a driver.
I initially hooked up a 5 foot USB cable with a 10 foot USB extension cable, but when backing up the remote, the process stalled. Retry didn’t work so I removed the TIU from the layout and used only the 5 foot cable. Backup with the 5 foot cable worked fine. I’m wondering if using a long cable / extension cable is a common problem for remote backup/restore or if I gave up too easily.
