My layout has 4 different blocks(none with over 250 feet of track) with each block on its oun channel in the tiu. I also have a test track built in the layout for engines that can't be found. I seem to get a lot of times where the engines can not be found or a check track response. I make sure no wheels are off etc. b ut still no solution. I check the engine and its on the track. Just to make it simple, I sometimes will only turn on the block that is on the one tiu channel but still the engine can not be found. I sometimes can put engine on the short test track and no recognition. I have read Barry book and still do not find a solution. I also sometime turn off the Legacy system but still no help. I have a lot of MTH engines but am losing faith in the DCS system.

Can you post a photo of the layout diagram and how the wiring is run?
Can you temporarily connect Fixed 1 output to an convenient spot on the layout and see if that works?
Do the following:
- Place an engine that's already in the remote, on a single piece of track that's directly connected to TIU Fixed #1 out
- Make sure that no other engines are on the track
- Then, perform a DCS signal test.
will do.
First, I walked away and closed things down to decrease my frustration. Then I checked by banana plugs and found one loose. Then I placed my test track on channel fixed 1 and turned things on. It worked. I did test my signal before I found the loose banana plug and it read 10. Otherwise I had enough contact for signal but it still was inter causing problems with recognizing the engines. Their is a snake under every bush.
