I run MTH trains on two separate tracks. TIU Fixed 1 is connected to outside track. Fixed 2 connected to inside track. DCS works fine on Fixed 1(Engines (Proto 3) Run). However, Fixed 2 on inside track, engines do not run (DCS controller says "Out of Range"). Tested current on inside track and there is 19.4 volts. Conventional engine runs on it. Placed Fixed 2 on outside track (to see if it works) and MTH engines (Proto 3) run. I am puzzled, what could be the problem? Daviddp

David,
Three things...
First, turn on the DCS signal for all channels: Menu/System/DCS Setup, press soft key AON.
Second, make sure that the red terminal of Fixed #2 is connected to the center rail of the inside loop and that the black terminal is connected to an outside rail.
Third, see if Fixed #2 Out works with the outside loop. If not, the problem is with the TIU's Fixed Channel #2.
This and a whole lot more about DCS is all in MTH’s “The DCS Companion 3rd Edition!" This book is available from many fine OGR advertisers and forum sponsors, or as an eBook or a printed book at MTH's web store! |

Hi Barry,
I have your DCS WIFI Companion book and I am trying to figure out how to wire a large layout 32' X 37' Have broken the upper loop into blocks. Home run wiring with 14 gauge stranded. Gargraves track with Ross switches and all soldered joints. Have updated the TIU to 5.0 and the remotes to 6.1. MRC transformers. The TMCC stuff all runs just perfectlly fine but the MTH engines often will not address- I get "Engine not found" or "Engine not on track" when the engine is right there sitting on top of the feed connection. The engines have been properly added, and sometimes they run just fine. Even put an MTH lashup together successfully this afternoon. Other times can't even address. I ran a signal test and got all 10's. ????????????????
The TIU and remotes need to be the same update, for starters.
They are both 6.1 It was the loader program that was 5.0
Always curious when a thread just stops with no shown conclusion. More than a month has passed, FRBOB did you resolve the issue you had? If so what was it?
Steve
Are you leaving a TMCC/Legacy engine on the rails (siding?)?
Anything else on the rails drawing power when this happens?
Is the inside loop broken in at least one spot?
Does fixed #1 work on the inside?
It's doing a lot better. I have no idea what fixed it.
