I'm not sure, but there are articles that state a magnet can saturate inductors with the magnetic field and disrupt radio communications. It can also induce voltage changes as another way to disrupt signals. You are putting it pretty close to the remote circuit board by gluing it to the shell. Wouldn't a loop hook be a safer solution if you are trying to hang it on something?

Clem, there's no problem putting a magnet on the remote.

GRJ,

You are probably right based on your tests, but how close was the TIU to the remote? In theory, magnetic fields can interfere with radio signals, but there are ways, as you know, to protect against that. It could be that the remote doesn't have any electronics in it that are susceptible to magnetic interference. The TIU could be a different story.

Anyway, I do think Velcro is a bit more secure of a connection for the coupler tool. You wouldn't want to lose it Clem.

Well, the magnet isn't on the TIU, so that's not an issue.   Remember, I put a very strong magnet on the remote and had no effect.  The little magnets he's considering would have a much weaker field.

Magnet fields don't really affect RF signals, but they could conceivably affect the permeability of coil cores used in the RF section if strong enough.  However, I can't even imagine that being the case here.

I don't pass on the suitability of the magnet for the intended purpose, I was only answering the question if the magnet would affect the remote.  IMO, and in my test, no effect was observed.

That 's a good one Bruce I forgot all about those !

JRJ  I'm going to try the magnet on another remote, I'll use the glue gun to fasten so i can take it off if I want to.

Still like GGG tool belt  combine that with the pocket protector and i'm ready. Of course i won't get down the narrow aisle

Have to get some hot pads also.

How come this isn't in the DCS companion ?
