DCS Remote Control System and LC+

No your DCS system does not have to be unplugged.  Just power up the track and run your lionchief, LC+ and LC 2.0.  The DCS wouldn't effect the engines or its operations.

Here's a related question: can I simultaneously run an MTH Proto 2 or 3 engine using the MTH Remote Control System and an LC+ (or LC+2.0) engine using the LionChief Universal Remote?

Hi Arnold, Yes you can run both on the same track.  Only issue is LC+ and LC 2.0 may have difference speeds then the MTH engines.  Just need to keep an eye to make sure they don't crash.  The MTH engines will run at the same speed so you can run multiple at the same time or lash-up with the DCS.     

The LC+ locomotives use flywheel tach based speed control, the LC+ 2.0 locomotives, at least the new 0-6-0T Docksider, use back-EMF speed control.  That being the case, I seriously doubt that they'll match speeds all that well with each other or with DCS.

Just curious John, how well should two identical model back-EMF locomotives match each other in regards to speed control?  I was thinking of maybe using two identical LC+ engines to pull a long consist up an above average grade on a new portable layout for kids. I'd think they would be close enough in speed it shouldn't matter, right?

The two LC+ 2.0 0-6-0T locomotives I have worked quite well together, I did a test MU with them, and I didn't have any issues with them coupled up and configured as a train.  I believe that Lionel stated that the LC+ 2.0 stuff would be compatible in an MU, I've yet to try them with Legacy locomotives.  I don't think they'd work well with LC+ (not 2.0).
