I am thinking of getting the MTH Remote Control System (#50-1001) to run my MTH Proto 2 and 3 locomotives. I also plan to run my LC+ and LC+2.0 locomotives using the LionChief Universal Remote or LionChief App.

If I hook up the MTH Remote Control System to my layout, do I need to disconnect it before I run my LC+ and LC+2.0 locomotives using the LionChief Universal Remote or LionChief App?

The LC+ locomotives use flywheel tach based speed control, the LC+ 2.0 locomotives, at least the new 0-6-0T Docksider, use back-EMF speed control.  That being the case, I seriously doubt that they'll match speeds all that well with each other or with DCS.

Just curious John, how well should two identical model back-EMF locomotives match each other in regards to speed control?  I was thinking of maybe using two identical LC+ engines to pull a long consist up an above average grade on a new portable layout for kids. I'd think they would be close enough in speed it shouldn't matter, right?

The two LC+ 2.0 0-6-0T locomotives I have worked quite well together, I did a test MU with them, and I didn't have any issues with them coupled up and configured as a train.  I believe that Lionel stated that the LC+ 2.0 stuff would be compatible in an MU, I've yet to try them with Legacy locomotives.  I don't think they'd work well with LC+ (not 2.0).
