You can clone a remote by making a backup of the one you want to duplicate using the DCS software. Then you restore it to the other remotes you want to match the backup. All remotes should match, if not I believe you can get some unexpected results while running trains. I have never done this (only have one remote), but it's all described in detail in Barry's book.

Engines should have the same ID number in each remote because the ID sticks with the engine.. If the engine is in 2 different spots(IDs) only one will work.

So the engine list should end up the same order on both remotes  .   I'm not sure what you're getting at.... If you hit the read with one remote,  engines not found will end up in the inactive list. The other remote may still  have the engines in the active list.

 I don't think there's an easy way about this.
