I have an unused fixed channel on my TIU. Will jumpering the output of the unused channel to one of the other used channel's outputs increase the signal strength for that used channel? There are places on my layout I have not been able to successfully get 9/10 signal strength even when trying bulbs/filters. This is an older TIU, not a Rev L. Some of this is probably caused by the number of active engines and passenger cars on the layout at one time; I can get much better signal strength when only a couple of trains are on the track at one time.

Nope , Not suppose to have 2 tiu channels feeding the same block. cut the block in half and use a channel for each block.
Add more power drops.
Connecting 2 channels together will have the exact opposite effect and kill your DCS signal
Kenjr,
You are going about it the wrong way. Purchase Barry's DCS O Gauge Companion Vol III, do some reading and set up your DCS controlled layout correctly, I also recommend the OGR Video Guide to DCS, a great introductory visual learning guide.

Thanks for responses. I do have Barry's first edition and video. So I did follow the basic star wiring concept. I probably should go ahead and get the latest edition of Barry's book, read through the updated info and see what things I might try.
I am thinking I will purchase a rev L TIU soon and use my existing TIU on my Christmas layout which is a single twice around layout and only running one train. I do hope the rev L will improve my signal strength.

Gentlemen,
Gomez Adams was always ahead of the engineering curve, he had his own DCS & the ultimate Magic bulb, before MTH invented DCS and Marty F found the magic light, very spooky house hold in deed! Legend has it Gomez actually worked for NASA.
