DCS Upgrd Audio Cable Loopback

Does anyone know the purpose of the Proto-Dispatch >> Proto-Cast audio loopback cable during the SW upgrade process? Just curious more than anything.

It makes the process work.

I can only assume that it's some kind of interlock to allow the software to actually write into the program space in the TIU. They probably could have had a switch, it was probably easier to just do the interlock in software by using the cable.
