Hi all; been away from the forum since earlier this year. Have not run any trains since about April. But fall is here and today one set of grandchildren are coming over, and it won't be to see the grandparents! The big interest will be running the trains. LOL

So I fired up the layout and set to testing things out. Most everything works except one DCS handheld. I checked the batteries, which are pretty new Duracells, all 1.34 volts or better. 5.35 volts total across the four. but the handheld just won't initialize. The other one works just fine as always. And the DCS trains run just fine with it.

I have never had this happen before, so I am wondering what it might be? Any ideas out there?

Thanks, rod

That mic button is the one that sticks for me. I don't use it but someone else here does! Though I've never had a power up issue from that.

I have more of this issue stem from that loose rear cover door and batteries on my oldest remote. I have some shims inside.

It will power up with low batteries even when they can't fully even power the screen. If one isn't making full clean contact, I get nothing.

I agree that 1.35 doesn't mean nearly fresh. Swap the batteries with the working remote to test.
