Thanks for all the work in making the site better. Bye and bye I think people, once they get used to the changes, will appreciate the upgrades and different view. I have one problem that I  need help with. Maybe others do as well so I am posting it.

When I try to UPLOAD a photo I get this message - You can upload photos, videos, audio and files. Please note that there is a file size limit of 25 MB (100 MB for videos). (options provided are CANCEL or FINISHED, but it only lets me select CANCEL) In effect, I CAN NOT upload any photos.

Either I am not doing this right, there is a configuration problem with my computer, or their is a problem with site design. Any help you can give me is MUCH appreciate. Thanks for that, and again, thanks for all the work you do for OGR!

"Michael - Click on "upload files" in the upper left hand corner of the file chooser window and select the photo on your 'puter that you wish to upload. When the attachment is uploaded click finish, then click on "insert into post body" and select a size. It's purty easy. Here's my grand daughter."...Texas Pete

Sorry Texas Pete, I get no chance to do that. When I select UPLOAD ATTACHMENTS or ADD ATTACHMENTS the file chooser only gives me an option of CANCEL. I get no opportunity to browse, choose, or upload anything.

see if this helps:

1. Click on POST NEW TOPIC or POST REPLY (depending on where you are) and the editor will open then click on ADD ATTACHMENTS:

2.  Click on UPLOAD FILES on the File Choser dialog box:

3.  The select photo folder will open on your PC -- navigate through your PC folders to find the photo that you want and then click on OPEN on the bottom right of the window:

4.the file should then upload to the site -- you'll see a status bar like the one below:

5.  When the file is done uploading, click on the INSERT ALL PHOTOS AND VIDEOS INTO POST BODY and then click on FINISHED:

6. The photo should have been inserted into the editor and you can click SUBMIT REPLY when you are satisfied/done:

Click on the image to make it larger.

I wish they would have made that little link a bit more prominent.

The green circle with the white + that says Upload Files does not appear on my screen when this window pops up after I select "Add Attachments".  It only says "You can upload photos, videso, audio and files. Please note that there is a file size limit of 25 MB (100 MB for videos)" I then have only a choice of Cancel or Finished, and the Finished bar is nonresponsive. I can ONLY choose Cancel or I am frozen with the pop up on the screen.

All of your directions are very clear (thank you). I have tried to describe my problem as accurately as I can.

Hold control when you are selecting a photo and click on all the photos you want to upload. They will be highlighted, then just upload the pics.

What?
It takes a minute for the pictures to upload.

This new page isn't that hard to understand...It's easier posting photos than on the old page. Give the guys at OGR a break. They don't have to run this forum and they have the right and responsibility to change it if they think it's for the better.

I crawled through mud, snow and pouring rain to get here, just to try posting a photo or two.

I feel cheated! It's not fair!

With all the hate talk going on even by senior members it's hard to tell who's joking. lol

Where is your problem?
Make sure your file isn't to big to be uploaded.

I select a photo hit open, the appropriate information fills in the appropriate boxes, the status shows uploading...

And that's where my photo posting journey comes to a grinding halt.

I don't get the status success notification, and because the upload failed, I don't get the "insert all photos..." notification...

What can ya do, but make a joke.

 lol...computers

Just make sure your file isn't to large (over 25mb) or close to that because that will cause it to not upload correctly.

Guys,

After hearing that aaron's picture took about 4 minutes, I gave it another shot. I waited staring at the screen hoping that on previous tries I had not given it enough time. After 11 minutes of stressful waiting, I aborted the attempt and hit the cancel button.

I feel like I'm in a race and everyone else is off and running, and I am stuck at the starting line.

I haven't given up yet, though. Something might turn up that saves the day, and then I can take my place, as a certified picture poster, alongside you guys

How many different pictures have you tried to upload? The reason being it might be the picture or it might be a slow interenet connection. We will get it figured out

I loaded Firefox 10.0 or a similar sounding designation, today. Rich supplied the link.

BTW, when I loaded Firefox I just clicked on the download symbol, and saved it when asked. I didn't adjust anything, just did those two steps.

Same thing when I loaded  JAVA, earlier today.

I probably tried uploading at least 5 different pictures, with no success.

Did it have a RUN and SAVE button? Then did a page pop up saying download complete or finished? You should have clicked run, I say that because the last time I updated I had more steps to take than that.

aaron,

I don't recall seeing those, and I felt unsure after doing the load. I expected to see some kind of confirmation.

I remember seeing that green line moving to the right, when I clicked to save...

What exactly should I be seeing and doing when loading firefox and JAVA? I just click on the download designated area of the firefox page.

lowen

When I go to the Java page and click download a screen pops up with Run, Save, and Cancel. Here is where you would want to click run instead of save.

Same screen pops up with firefox as well.

If an individual photo is 25 mgb, it doesn't mean you should do that, it means you can.

Photos still need to be resized to a smaller amount for quick uploading, especially if you are still on dial up. For instance, when I'm at home, and on dial up, a 25 mg upload would be  into hours! 1mg will be well into fifteen minutes.

Everyone who wishes to post photos should have some method of reducing the file sizes to make it even easier for them to upload pictures.

I think some of the problems folks might be having is not realizing how long it takes for some of the larger files to upload.

Ed Mullan

So I am back at it, again.

I went into my programs listed and I have -  Java(TM)SE Runtime Environment 6, and Mozilla Firefox 10.0(x86en-us).

The Firefox 10.0 should be the most up-to-date version currently available, so it should be suitable for this picture posting business.

I'm not sure about the Java program, though? Would it be suitable for picture posting, here?

BTW, I checked for firewalls and the security system that I purchased, for my computer, told me that, it has superior protection in-place, re: firewall protection .

The computer security I purchased, claims it does the best job... so I am leaving it in charge.

BTW, When my computer was initially set up, I specified maximum protection from online threats. If that type of protection rules out some activities, i.e. posting pictures... then I'll have to live with that.

In conclusion: If my programs(Firefox and Java) are up to the job required here for posting pictures, then I'm assuming my computer security is preventing the picture uploading...

I wouldn't think your firewall would be stopping the upload but it might. I am playing around with my firewall settings right now and still haven't run into any problems uploading pics. Just to ask again what size file were you trying to upload? You might try resizing them.

In internet options go to security and turn your cookies to medium high and in privacy set to just high. That is what I am set at and I don't have any problems but with everything set to the maximum it won't allow any uploads. If it doesn't work you can always change it back...
