My father has agreed to purchase me a legacy engine within the 400-500 range do to Covid-19 taking my senior year away. As of right now I am torn between a brand new BNSF SD70ACE, and an older legacy BNSF SD70MAC. Any suggestions in the 400-500 range would be greatly appreciated
"Brand New" in my book = WARRANTY. Given the choice between new, or "older" (for the same money), I would almost always go for the "new".
I just did a search for Lionel Legacy BNSF Diesel on the Trainworld site. There's a lot to choose from in that price range. I would check around with all of the OGR sponsors first.
You've got a great Dad. Make sure to write him a nice Thank You note. He'll save it, and you will cherish it when you rediscover it 40 or 50 years from now.
