I have purchased two of the K-LINE K713-1891 PRR Operating LOG DUMP CAR the past five years. These cars were produced on 2005. Both cars were warped, frame and platform, and the diecast just crumbled on one of them. My question is, Did K-Line have a problem with these cars when they were produced?

Not that I know of. I have had mine a few years and I haven't seen any problems but now I'll take a closer look.
I have two of these cars, and had them sitting on the track next to each other for 3-4 years. began getting layout up and running and noticed that one of the two cars dis exactly what you described, warped, crumbling dicast metal and the other is perfectly fine. it is bizarre how it just expanded the metal in all dimensions. also seems to be effecting the housing for the motorized portion as well. would be very interested to know what is happening! clearly not an isolated event.

I had three of these crumble. Zinc Pest most likely. Since I have several other road names, my position is that only the K-LINE K713-1891 Pennsylvania is a problem. When they come up for auction I check to see if they show signs of warping, cracking or flaking. But as much as I would like a Pennsylvania one, I won't waste one cent more for one. Steer clear of these.
