While trying to figure out how to get track low enough into the bottom of a 3" PVC pipe, that is modeling a retort for a

creosote plant, I determined I'd have to cut the ties off of the lowest profile three rail track available, up to the tie plates

and at an angle.  That is a three foot length of Scaletrax  back into a 24" pipe, to carry flat cars loaded with ties and poles in for treatment.  There are a lot of ties on a three foot length.  Did not want to saw all of those off at an angle on both sides. So, I disassembled the track section, saving three short lengths, two ties, for the middle and each end of the track section, only had to saw those ends off, and successfully lowered the track into the bottom of the pipe.  As it is, I can't get

bulk head cars in there and will have to use them for outgoing loads.  This means I stripped out a lengthy sections of tie

strip, and need some plain flatcars to run the lumber into the retort.  With two 24" retorts to shelter, the corrugated metal

building is not going to be compact.

Another project under way is the Ameri-towne drygoods store.  I cut and moved around two walls to get another appearance, never being able to leave well enough alone.  Front door is now at one side of the front wall, rather than

centered, and and the large side freight door was eliminated, with person door moved to back of left side.

I was constrained to 3" PVC by the fact that Plastruct doesn't offer elliptical domes larger that that....although I could have applied them to cutout circles, which I used for the rims, to cover the ends of larger pipe.  I could have used styrene cut-out discs to whatever size needed but preferred the look of the domes. The domes form the doors, with drilling, the mounting of small furniture hinges to make operating doors, and applying wire for handles.  Flats will run in there, just not bulkhead flats.  Have a paint problem now, will have to sand, primer and respray.

Photos will follow when the complex is finished.
