While the add-on detail of today's "built-up" kits is fantastic why don't the manufacturers just provide the finished details loose so the modeler can create their own scene about the structure?

While the structures might be common from layout to layout please allow the modeler to arrange, add, subtract, and revise the details.

Some modelers like clutter, some like it neat. It would be nice NOT to see the same person on the same bench, next to the same garbage can, next to the same fire hydrant from layout to layout.

I really appreciate what manufacturer's are offering.......I just want to achieve the "right look" which works best for the era and setting modeled while enjoying the quality, fit, and finish of the main structure.

NEPA - The added details on the Woodland Scenics buildings come off very easily and can be reused in other scenes or on other buildings.  I'm sure the same is true on Menards buildings.  I had to remove added details on mine in order to be able to place them closer in my street scenes.  I love the new buildings with the added details and especially the weathering.  Sure saves a lot of time compared to other buildings.

I "mix and match" all the time in that way.  The Woodland Scenics bike shop is a moonshiner-runners garage on my layout, but its motorcycles and most of the accersories it can with were moved, etc.

I would like it if Woodland Scenics would sell a lot of the "stuff" but they don't . . . Sometimes on diecast direct and other sites you can find a lot of small accessories to buy, and things like the window AC units, flower boxes, dumpers, and all, utility service entrances and meters boxes, etc., are pretty easr to make yourself.  I'd really like to have more Coke vending machines though (the diecast ones I find don't look as good.

I will buying a second grocery store when it comes out half just to get an additonal ride-em horsey.
