Detroit 3 Railers November Meet

Wish I could have made it!  At the last minute one of the guys that helps David with Amtrak had to go to emergency and David had no one else to take over.  Murphy's law got in the way.  I didn't want to drive that far alone, and had no one else to go with me.

How big is the modular layout? It is TMCC and DCS? It looks to have 3 main lines. How is is powered? How long does it take to move, set up and take down?

Maybe our modular group can learn something from Detroit 3 railers.

The Glancy Modular layout can be setup much larger than what we assembled for the gathering on Saturday.  I have been involved with setups as large as 48 by 56.  Larger would be possible.  The layout utilizes Lionel Legacy control with TPC 400's.  If someone cares to run MTH we handle it conventionally using the TPC's.  Each main line has twin 180 watt Lionel bricks for power.

The Glancy Modular Railroad Club operates the modular layout.  I just happen to belong to both the Glancy club and D3R as well.

John, I'm not certain what survives from the original Alfred Glancy collection.  Perhaps someone else will chime in with that information.

It was a fun night having both groups together for the first time. Like Charlie said a few of us are in both groups. Makes for a lot of fun railroading from fall to June.
