The Northern Michigan RailRoad Club special run cars for 2013 can now be preordered.  There are two different cars.  The prototypes, while being numbered sequentially, were ordered several years apart from different builders, so they have a number of differences in the lettering, heralds, and paint scheme.  They were both black and white in color, but one had black ends and the other white ends.

The models are by Weaver with the design & decorating by Buffalo Creek Graphics.  Those of you who have ordered these from us before know of BCG's high quality of decoration.

There will be only 100 made, 50 of each, and we have already presold 2/3's of them, so don't wait too long!

I'm having problems copying the pdf image here so please visit our club website to see the pre-production drawings.

Charlie took care of it!

Very nice, wish I could afford to order right now. Michigan road names aren't exactly easy to come by, let alone a turtle.

I read the proto info and noticed it said that "Mac" was never on revenue equip. I only remember seeing Mac one place ever, besides a hat or billboard, and he was definitely rolling. On an engine maybe? Don't think so, but I really don't remember. I was busy looking at Mac. It was in the late 80's or 90s just outside of Cheboygan, off Mullet Lake, in front of Silver Beach, headed south on the line that became the rail trail. I was traveling on vacation with a member of the Biaer family, who were among the earliest settlers in that area (Biaer road?!) We had to wait between 27 and the tracks for it to pass, so we could get back to the beach(sorry private again) so I did get a decent view of him, and we talked about the fact I had never seen Mac on anything but ads before that. Although I don't live there, I visited the area often on the way to and from the U.P. and Brevort lake (No not Union Pacific, and Breavort if your maps old enough), where my family was from. I don't think I ever saw another train on that line again after that day. Any how if you don't offer a Troll* discount, how about trading for some pasties, or fudge? Apple, or cherry pies? A ride in a Vette? Would you at least consider a "prize" for walking the Mighty Mac with a NMRRC shirt on? No?... 3 times in one day, steamer in hand?? (I've done it twice, twice. No running. Three times would be a real challenge.) Oh, wHell I tried. Nice cars John.

*Mich. humor, someone who lives under the bridge..The Mackinaw bridge, which is much longer than its Golden west coast sister.

I'd give you one for a prize if you did, if I could.

I'm pretty sure Mac was on some locos near the last days of the D&M - but not positive.  He did make it on the Lionel hoppers, but I guess that's not what you saw.

Being of Yooper ancestry, did you see the E&LS, Copper Range, and Soo Locks cars that we did in the past?  More to come.  We alternate between Da UP and Northern Lower Mich.

I'm sure. He was painted full color and I think I remember his name in print..once again my focus was on Mac.

Sorry to say, I haven't seen them unless maybe they were at a Detroit area show. Im a lifetime "owner" (4 old locos, 16 more in two years), a "lurker" here for 2 years off & on, joined OGF this year. Most of what I know (think I know) Gramps taught me. While I haven't been to Old Place Road in a while, Ill try to make it to a meeting next time I'm UP, if you take in temporary strays at your meetings. Ill bring a junkie Mi based kitbash cars/loco of your request to run if you wish. Most of my best prototype memories were in Northern Mi. SOO F7s around the locks, watching the SS Chief Wawatam getting loaded. I must have ridden the old US-2 tourist trap rails 100 times before I was a teen (others too). By choice, only rode behind their "diesel" once. Even Gramps couldn't get me on it again! I needed to ride the old time steam engine. Oh! the Traverse emergency snow removal equipment yard. WOW! Sooo much yellow steel. Splitter plows as tall as the sky.

Hey, assuming you get around, in the UP northwest of Brevort and Moran. In the 1970s, on Worths road, there used to be a restaurant called Worths. I think it burned down. It was next to a snowmobile trail that I think was once a railroad line. Anyhow, remember the ceiling? Those trophy heads from all over the world, the angriest/scariest animals fixed to a cable strung over each seats plate. The bartender/owner delighting in scaring the fudge out of Fudgies mid-meal by dropping one to eye to eye level. I'm searching for photos of the place inside* and out, could you ask around? Someone has to have captured this on film. Is the Worth family still around UP there? Only bother with what you will on these questions, aye.
