Hey gang,

So I was setting up my polar express set in my sons room about an hour ago and I decided that instead of using the cw30 Id just go ahead and hook it up to my ZW since I was going to have a little 2025 running in his room as well. Anyway I think the ZW may have upset my tender whistle. At first when pushing the whistle button on the ZW it didnt work at all.   I tried a few more times and eventualy it did work...  but all to well! Now the whistle wont shut off! Any time there is power to the track the whistle is contantly blowing. Even tried switching back the the cw30 and sure enough, throttle up and the there goes the whistle blowing in all her glory!

Anyone have this happen before? Is there an easy fix?

Thanks all!

---Joe

The TVS goes in parallel between hot and ground before any other device/connection? Mouser lists 8184 bidirectional TVSs.

Can you reccomend some values to filter for? With my ZW 20 volts + 1.5 for the whistle controller for continuous?

How about a couple of diodes for a quick fix?

No, but you get a voltage kick when applying the whistle.  The MPS13 (or is it MSP)  can blow easily.  It is an easy $.13 fix, plus you can remove the 50ohm resistor to get a louder whistle.  G

Yes, Even on the track with the cw I get a continous whistle.

Are there any diagrams on the inside of this thing? I generaly dont mess with these things but I may be able to replace one little thing on the board if I know where it is and can find the right part.

Whats a quick fix for now so I can stop this thing from whistling? Ill have to open it up soon. Hopefully I can just pull a connector off instead of having to snip any wires to shut it up for now.
